Heart disease is the leading cause of death worldwide

World Heart Day was celebrated at the Karachi Institute of Heart and Diseases. Cardiologists say that most deaths in the world are due to heart disease.

A cardiologist said that “Allah has given man two hands, feet, eyes and lungs in the body but the heart is only one. Heart disease is on the rise due to smoking and other substances. People need to make changes in their lives to avoid heart disease.”

Another cardiologist says that a healthy diet and daily intake can protect against heart disease, adding that diabetes, obesity, and high blood pressure can lead to heart disease.

The second major heart disease is perforation of the heart which is also the cause of many diseases for which timely diagnosis is very important.

According to the World Health Organization, 23% of Pakistan’s population suffers from high blood pressure. An estimated 1.5 million people worldwide and 80,000 in Pakistan die of heart disease each year.
