As a precautionary measure following the coronavirus outbreak in Pakistan, a health emergency has been declared across Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
AJK Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider has taken the decision after Friday’s National Security Council meeting.
Residents were advised to avoid crowded areas, arrange smaller scale weddings and postpone large religious congregations (ijtemat). The government has declared that all AJK schools, colleges and universities will continue to be closed until April 6.
Both secondary exams were postponed too.
A strict screening mechanism was installed at all 11 entry points, Haider said. He added that all 10 AJK districts are developing quarantine facilities.
