LAHORE: A senior journalist Imran Shafqat, who runs a YouTube channel, and Geo TV programme host Hamid Mir’s brother, Amir Mir, have gone missing.
Both the journalists have allegedly been arrested by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), however no confirmation has been given by the state institution in this regard till filing of the report.
A TV anchor Tariq Mateen tweeted, “Just spoke to a member of Imran Shafqat team… (he said) in the morning some 8 people in a couple of vehicles raided his place, spoke in harsh words, took him away and told family members that we are from FIA. Now FIA Lahore says they did not do it.”
Another journalist, Asad Ali Toor said that after abduction of Imran Shafqat, brother of Hamid Mir, Amir Mir had also gone missing. Amir Mir owns online media platform Googly TV.
Hamir Mir said FIA Cyber Crime Wing Lahore kidnapped journalist Amir Mir in Lahore on Saturday morning, snatched his phone and laptop. “We came to know about his location after five hours. FIA also arrested another journalist Syed Shafqat Imran this morning from Lahore,” he said.
Twitterites have launched a trend on the social media platform with hashtag #BringBackImranshafqat.
