The nation remembers lyricist of Pakistan’s national anthem, Abu-Al-Asar Hafeez Jalandhari on his 120th birth anniversary today (Tuesday).
Jalandhari was born on 14 January, 1900 in Jalandhar, Punjab. After Pakistan got independence on 14 August, 1947, the lyricist migrated to Lahore.
In 1952, Jalandhari wrote the lyrics for Pakistan’s Qaumi Tarana. Not only Pakistan’s but Jalandhari also wrote Kashmir’s anthem “Watan Humara Azad Kashmir”.
He had actively participated in Pakistan Movement and used his writings to propagate for the cause of Pakistan.
During the Indo-Pakistan War of 1965, he wrote many patriotic songs to motivate the soldiers, fighting for the country.
Hafeez Jalandhari was awarded with Hilal-e-Imtiaz and Pride of Performance by Pakistan’s government for his literary and patriotic services to Pakistan.
Jalandhari passed away on December 21, 1982 at the age of 82.
