Gunman kills eight co-workers at California transit facility
A gunman committed suicide after shooting eight co-workers dead on Wednesday morning at a US state California’s rail yard.
Police spokesman Russell Davis said the assailant himself took his life after he realized that security officials had besieged him. He was carrying multiple guns.
The Santa Clara County coroner’s office identified the victims as Paul Delacruz Megia, 42; Taptejdeep Singh, 36; Adrian Balleza, 29; Jose Dejesus Hernandez, 35; Timothy Michael Romo, 49; Michael Joseph Rudometkin, 40; Abdolvahab Alaghmandan, 63, and Lars Kepler Lane, 63. One injured victim is in critical condition.
The 55-year-old attacker has been identified as Sam Cassidy, however motive behind his rampage could not be ascertained yet.
Cassidy’s ex-wife Cecilia Nelms told that when he was happy, he was a great guy, but when he was angry, he was simply a mad man. She said that he had was not happy with his coworkers and the workplace.
Santa Clara police said that explosive material was also recovered from an area of the city.
