Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg has contributed $100,000 for her fight against the coronavirus pandemic to the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).

The sum has recently been awarded to Thunberg by Human Act for its global activism, which gave her foundation the prize money. “This sum will now go to UNICEF along with an additional $100,000 from Human Act,” UNICEF said in a statement.

Thunberg has also initiated a child rights-driven initiative with Danish NGO Human Act to support UNICEF’s efforts to resolve and protect children from the COVID-19 pandemic.

These include food shortages, strained health-care systems, conflict and inadequate education, UNICEF said.
