‘Grandchildren or Rs50m compensation’, parents move court against son, daughter-in law

In a bizarre case reported from Uttarakhand India, parents have moved to court against their only son and daughter-in-law demanding either a grandchild or Rs50 million in compensation.

According to Indian media reports, Prasad and his wife, a retired senior officer in Haridwar, have filed a case against their pilot son and daughter-in-law on the grounds of “mental harassment” because they failed to give them a grandson or granddaughter after six years of marriage.

According to reports, the father says that he has no money left after financing his son’s education and training in the United States, so the son and daughter-in-law will pay compensation of Rs25 million each for not giving us happiness so that our financial situation could be fine.

“We married our son in 2016 in the hope of having grandchildren, we don’t care about gender, we just want to be grandparents.” he said.

According to reports, the parents are of the view that after not having children even after 6 years of marriage and having spent all their wealth on their son’s education, we have filed a case against the son and daughter-in-law and claimed compensation of INR 50 million.

Prasad’s lawyer said in the petition filed against his son that this case represents the reality of our society.

The petition was filed in a local court in Haridwar on Saturday and will be heard on May 15.
