Govt working on Financial Stimulus Package to help labour class: Firdous Awan

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister’s Special Assistant on Information Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan has said the government is working on a Financial Stimulus Package to help the labour class and daily wagers.
“The package will soon be presented to Prime Minister Imran Khan for formal approval,” Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said addressing a joint news conference with SAPM Dr Zafar Mirza and Director General ISPR Major General Babar Iftikhar in Islamabad.
She said a committee had been constituted under the chairmanship of Finance Advisor Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh to devise a plan to avoid economic slowdown in the country.

Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said directions had been given to the provincial governments to take strict actions against those elements who attempted to hoard food and create artificial shortage of edible items.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Zafar Mirza said that Chinese health experts would interact with their Pakistani counterparts through video conference in next few days to apprise them about their experiences to fight the virus.
He appreciated the doctors, nurses and paramedics, terming them heroes of the nation. He assured that personal protection equipment will be provided to them.
The special assistant said a system to register the volunteers would also be introduced to counter any emergency situation.
He urged the public and media to avoid sharing fake news and unverified news on media.
In his remarks, Director General Inter Services Public Relations Major General Babar Iftikhar said Pakistan’s armed forces were cooperating with the federal and provincial governments to protect the nation from covid-19.
He said the armed forces were active and a medical plan of action has been devised to address the issue.
The DG ISPR said the armed forces were also supporting the civil administration at international airports.
