ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Senator Shibli Faraz on Monday said the government wanted to hold detailed discussion on some clauses of the 18th constitutional amendment.

“The government ensured a transparent investigation into the sugar crises and made public its report,” Shibli Faraz said while talking to a local news channel. While, he said, in previous governments, ruling party and the opposition were busy in protecting the interests of their leaderships instead of resolving problems of people.

The minister said the government was working to strengthen the institutions and their independence. He said in the past institutions were used for protection of the personal interests of rulers.

He said the government of the Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) came in to power as people supported the slogan of change; hence no one was above the law in the government.

He said media supported the ruling party’s movement because everyone knew that Prime Minister Imran Khan was an honest person with great sympathy for the poor.

“The government had inherited economy in fragile condition but it has stabilized it with effective measures,” he said.
