Minister for Climate Change Zartaj Gul said that the government has decided to demolish the Monal Restaurant on the top of Margalla hills in Islamabad.
The reason to take such a hard decision is that it is built on Margalla National Park, and it is against the law to erect constructions on national parks.
Remember that the Margalla Hills area is included in the National Park where cutting down trees without permission is prohibited.
In May this year, the Islamabad administration sealed off Monal for new construction and felling of trees, and the Supreme Court also reprimanded the administration over the matter and ordered the demolition of the extension.
“Apart from the 10 billion tree program for forest promotion, our focus is to make the country’s 15 national parks completely safe,” Zartaj Gul.
