Govt increases petrol price by Rs5.40 a liter

ISLAMABAD: Assistant to Prime Minister on Political Communication Dr Shahbaz Gill on Thursday apprised that the federal government had increased petrol price by Rs5.40 a liter.

While, Dr Shahbaz Gill said, the government had approved to increase diesel price by Rs2.54 and light diesel price by Rs1.27 a liter. He termed it a relief from the centre contrary to recommendations of the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA).

Prime Minister Imran Khan decided to provide relief to the masses against OGRA’s recommendations regarding prices of petroleum products, he tweeted.

“OGRA had proposed an increase in the price of petrol by Rs 11.40 per liter in view of the rising prices of petroleum products in the global market for the past several months,” he said.

The PM’s aide said the price of kerosene had been fixed at Rs 1.39 per liter.

“The government will bear the burden of the decision of not to increase petroleum product prices and provide maximum relief to the people,” he tweeted.
