ISLAMABAD: Leaders of the Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) on Thursday addressed a joint press conference in Islamabad regarding the economic crises facing the country since the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) came into power.
“The government has failed and the country is suffering from it,” senior PML-N leaders said. Khurram Dastgir and Mohammad Zubair addressed the media on this occasion.
Khurram Dastgir said the annual fiscal report had used a very diplomatic tone. It had revealed that the government’s biggest achievement was that it had reduced the current account deficit.

He said the report did not clarify that how this was achieved. He said it could happen because people had stopped ordering imports. “According to the State Bank of Pakistan, the imports have been strangulated.”
The government’s real achievement would have been in increasing the exports rather than curtailing imports, he said.
During the PML-N’s last year 2017-18, Pakistan’s exports were 70,80,000 dollars and as compared to that, this government has decreased imports in a year by 2%, even then the rupee had gone down by 40%, the PML-N leader said.
On this occasion, former Sindh governor Mohammed Zubair said the government had lied to people as the country was not being properly managed.
“The foreign direct investment has decreased. It has plummeted since PTI came into government,” he said.
