KARACHI: On directive of Prime Minister Imran Khan, the federal government on Thursday deferred hike in electricity price for Karachi.

The federal ministers, Asad Umar and Ameenul Haq had opposed the proposed price hike in power tariffs in the cabinet meeting.

Meanwhile, PM Imran directed to bring all the resources into use to end loadshedding in the metropolis on emergency basis. He directed to immediately resolve the matter of power cut in Karachi and keep an eye on it.

Ameen ul Haq thanked the prime minister for this step. The PM said that Karachi would be provided electricity from the national grid until issues of K-Electric were resolved.

The cabinet meeting also mulled over reviewing the agreement signed between the government and K-Electric. The forum was apprised that KE was provided 4500 ton furnace oil and was offered to provide 500 more.
