Govt decides to deploy Army troops in Islamabad amid PTI’s possible Long March

The federal coalition government has decided to deploy the troops of Pakistan Army in the federal capital to stop the possible Long march of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in a bid to take early elections date.
The decision by the government has come a day after PTI Senior Vice President Fawad Chaudhry claimed that all arrangements and preparations for the long march towards the federal capital are in the final stages.
This decision of the federal government was taken yesterday in a meeting presided over by Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah. During the meeting, a strategy was prepared to deal with PTI’s possible Long March.
Official sources told that Pakistan Army will be deployed to prevent the entry of protesters into the Red Zone.
The meeting decided that the security of all important buildings and the diplomatic enclave located in the red zone will be handed over to the Pakistan Army during the PTI’s long march.
Military forces will be called upon to assist the civil administration under Article 245 of the Constitution, which states that the Armed Forces shall defend Pakistan against civil oppression or threat of war.
Earlier, PTI Chairman Imran Khan while addressing a power show in Taxila said that, “this time his long march will give the government a ‘surprise’ as government has no knowledge of his plans and strategies.”
