Govt decides not to increase electricity prices anymore: PM Imran Khan
MOHMAND: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday said the government had decided not to increase electricity prices anymore.
“We will talk to the owners of power plants for providing cheap electricity to the masses. We will take every measure to reduce electricity prices in the country,” PM Imran Khan said while addressing the inauguration ceremony of Ehsaas Kafalat Programme in Mohmand by distributing Ehsaas Kafalat Cards.
He said gas was expensive in Pakistan because the previous government had signed a contract for 15 years, so the country was bound to sell on the rates according to that contract, despite the fact that the gas prices in the world had dropped by 30 percent.
The PM said he realized that the people of tribal areas had been left behind. They were the poorest in the country and the tribal areas faced the biggest loss in war on terror, he maintained. He said, “We have got the chance to uplift people and the country and this is not a political statement, it is my religious duty.”
On communal riots in New Delhi, PM Imran said he had warned the world beforehand that if it did not stop the Indian government then there would be bloodshed, “This is what happened in India’s capital city.”
“Insha Allah! Allah will end the system of oppression.”
He said Pakistan was built on a big ideology. It was created to represent the real Islam. The idea of the Riyasat e Madina was that those who were left behind in the race of life, they would be uplifted and the programme of Ehsas was made on the same model, he added.
“When Quran tells us to follow Nabi SAWW’s sunnah, it means if you follow sunnah then Allah will bless you with barkat and uplift you,” he said. The nation having features of justice and equality make progress, he said.
Imran Khan said the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government was going to cultivate orchards of olive in Mohmand district. “We can plant the best kind of olive on this land.”
On facilities for the district, PM Imran Khan said, “We will establish a marble industry in Mohmand. We will provide you water through Mohmand dam. We will provide loans to tribal youth.” He also directed Minister of Communications Murad Saeed to bring 3g, 4g into Mohmand.
