Govt committed to take strict action against hoarders: KP CM

KARACHI: Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mahmood Khan said the government is committed to take stern action against those involved in the hosting and smuggling of vital commodities during the outbreak of coronavirus.
Addressing a media briefing in Peshawar on Monday he said, “We will take strict action against hoarders and profiteers.” He added, “The government has introduced an ordinance in this regard.”
Mahmood Khan said attempts by the provincial government are being made to raise coronavirus testing to 5,000 tests a day.
“We are trying to increase our testing capacity with the help of the private sector,” he mentioned. The CM called on the people to follow social distancing and measures to curb the virus’s spread.
He maintained that the Ehsaas programme is the largest scheme in the country aimed at promoting the disadvantaged.
Mahmood Khan said the government appreciates the services of doctors, paramedics, police and law enforcement personnel, who are committed to combating the pandemic.
