Govt approves removal of Shahid Khaqan Abbasi’s name from ECL
Former Prime Minister and PML-N senior leader Shahid Khaqan Abbasi’s name has been removed from Exit Control List(ECL) for 15 days. The decision was approved by the federal cabinet.
Earlier Abbasi requested for permission to visit the United States where his sister and brother-in-law have been diagnosed with Covid-19. Now the notification has been issued to him, giving a permit to fly abroad.
The former prime minister is being investigated on numbers of corruption charges. As a consequence of such cases his name was placed in ECL. In November an accountability court indicted Abbasi in LNG terminal reference.
PML-N leadership has claimed that these accountability cases are a part of conspiracy and revenge politics played by the ruling party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
