Gladiators set a 191-runs target in 20 overs for Peshawar Zalmi
Karachi: In the second match of the seventh edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL 7), Quetta Gladiators gave Peshawar Zalmi a target of 191 runs to win.
Ahsan Ali and Will Smeed playing his first match in PSL, started the innings confidently and scored at an average of 10 runs per over.
Both the players batted brilliantly and completed the half century of the team in power play. Smeed from England batted brilliantly and completed a half century off 35 balls while the Gladiators’ openers also completed the team’s century in the 11th over. Second opener Ahsan Khan also batted excellently and completed a half century off 33 balls.
The openers put on a brilliant 155-run partnership but Ahsan Ali caught out on the boundary in an attempt to hit a six to Usman Qadir. He scored 73 runs off 46 balls with three sixes and eight fours.
The Gladiators had not yet recovered from the loss as Ben Duckett became Usman Qadir’s second wicket without scoring a run. Iftikhar Ahmed could not do anything special and returned to the pavilion after scoring 8 runs.
Will Smeed batted brilliantly and played an innings of 97 off 62 balls with the help of 4 sixes and 11 fours but in an attempt to hit a six on the last ball of the innings, he caught out at the boundary. Quetta Gladiators scored 190 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in the stipulated overs.
