The Khalti Lake, which is located in Ghizer district of Gilgit-Baltistan , has frozen as temperature dropped down to -17 degrees.

People, especially children, from the district now can be spotted playing, skating and sporting on the frozen lake. Every year in November, the lake becomes frozen and maintains its state till March.

Many sports competitions are organized on the frozen lake in which the local youth take part zealously. In January 2020, a winter sports competition was held at the Khalti lake. The sports competitions included football, ice hockey and ice skating.

Northern Areas (valleys of KP, GB and AJK) are the most favourite tourist spots in the country. The regions attract millions of local and international tourists annually.
