National Electric Power Regulatory Authority’s (NEPRA) report has revealed that load shedding in Karachi is not only because of the gas shortage but a faulty K-Electric system.
The NEPRA report revealed that K-electric could not even achieve the target of electric transmission losses, while the number of the company’s overloaded transformers have tripled.
Prolonged load shedding in Karachi is not just due to the crisis of gas shortage.
The number of overloaded transformers of K Electric in the year 2018-19 was 808 as compared to 2019-20 which has now become 2250.
The NEPRA report further states that poor transmission system and additional power transmission from NTD is not possible as K Electric’s transmission system cannot carry more than 650 MW.
