KARACHI: Funeral prayer of former Karachi Mayor and senior Jamaat-e-Islami leader Naimatullah Khan has been offered at Idara Noor e Haq in Karachi on Wednesday after Zuhr prayer.
Ameer JI Siraj ul Haq led the prayer, which was attended by a sea of people including Sindh Governor Imran Ismail, Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, Sindh government spokesperson Murtaza Wahab and other notables.
Naimatullah passed away on Feb 25 after protracted illness at the age of 89.
He was elected as the first Nazim of Karachi in 2001 and resigned from his office in June 2005.

President Dr Arif Alvi has expressed grief and sorrow over the sad demise of former Mayor Karachi Naimatullah Khan.
In a tweet, the president had said that he was a great man. He had prayed that may Allah Al-Mighty forgive him and give him high ranks in Janna.
Naimatullah was born on October 1, 1930 in Rajasthan’s Ajmer.
He also served as chief of Jamaat-e-Islami and was a graduate of the Punjab University’s journalism programme and a law graduate from University of Karachi.
His father, Abdul Shakoor Khan, worked in the Department of Railways and his mother Bismillah Begum, was a housewife.
