On Jan 14, personal physician of former prime minister, Dr Adnan Khan had submitted the latest medical report of Nawaz Sharif to the government.
Dr Adnan Khan had shared the report of ex-prime minister on his Twitter account also which has been signed by Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon David Lawrence, who has suggested a coronary angiography for Sharif saying that significant part of his heart was at risk. “I would strongly recommend urgent coronary intervention. Failure to do this could compromise his myocardium (middle muscular layer of the heart wall), his cardiac health and his well being,” he had written in the report.
The surgeon had said experts at the Guy’s and St Thomas Haematology were managing his unstable platelet count to make him safe for an invasive procedure including lymph node biopsy. The significant carotid artery further made the issue complex, he had said.
“A multidisciplinary approach is warranted for his safety while undergoing invasive procedures due to co-morbidities (hypertension, diabetes and kidney disease) which carry a significant risk of bleeding and possibility of a procedural or peri-procedural adverse cardiac event,” he had written.
The report was made public soon after Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid had held a press conference on Jan 14 demanding provision of fresh reports of the high-profile patient.
