On Wednesday the Balochistan Health Department reported the province’s fourth polio case of the year.

This year the number of children affected by polio has exceeded 20 in Pakistan.

A seven-year-old child in Sohbatpur District was diagnosed with the virus.

10 cases were reported this year from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, six from Sindh and four from Balochistan.

In 2019 at least 128 cases of polio were reported across the world.

All the new cases come from families at the bottom of the socioeconomic scale. Authorities have reported that 50 percent of sewerage samples collected from across Pakistan identified the polio virus.
