Former VC of the University of Balochistan charged in harassment case

QUETTA: The University of Balochistan, the largest educational institution in Balochistan, has given various punishments to five employees, including former Vice-Chancellor Javed Iqbal, for making secret videos and harassing female students.
The University Inquiry Committee into the making of videos through hidden cameras and then harassing female students recommended action against the officials.
A meeting of the syndicate board of the university was held under the chairmanship of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shafiqul Rehman to review them and determine the punishments against them.
The meeting decided to sack the university’s chief security officer Muhammad Naeem and security guard Saifullah, while the syndicate withheld an annual increase in the salaries of former university registrar Tariq Jogezai and former transport officer Sharif Shahwani for two years each.
As the syndicate did not have the power to punish former vice-chancellor Javed Iqbal, the university syndicate recommended to the governor of Balochistan, who is also the chancellor of the university, to take judicial action against the former vice-chancellor and withdraw the awards and titles from him.
