Former Karachi mayor Naimatullah Khan has passed away at the age of 89.
Born on October 1st, 1930 in Rajasthan’s Ajmer, Khan was the city’s Nazim from August 2001 to June 2005.
He also served as chief of Jamaat-e-Islami and was a graduate of the Punjab University’s journalism programme and a law graduate from University of Karachi.
His father, Abdul Shakoor Khan, worked in the Department of Railways and his mother Bismillah Begum, was a housewife.
Murtaza Wahab expressed his condolences at the mayor’s death.
Mayor of Karachi Wasim Akhtar also shared a post expressing sorrow.
