Former DG ISI Lt. Gen Faiz Hameed seeks ‘early retirement’

Former Director-General Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and Bahawalpur Corps Commander Lt Gen Faiz Hameed has decided to bid farewell, seeking early retirement, according to sources.
The development came out a day after Pakistan Army’s Chief of General Staff (CGS) Lt General Azhar Abbas has decided to retire before time.
Lt Gen Azhar Abbas and Lt Gen Faiz Hameed were in the list of most senior officers sent by GHQ to appoint the chief of the army staff (COAS).
Earlier, family sources of Lt Gen Azhar Abbas told that the CGS has decided to take early retirement.
“I confirm that Lt Gen Azhar Abbas has sought earlier retirement to maintain his grace, honour and dignity as a decorated officer of Pakistan Army,” Lt Gen Azhar’s brother said.
“Known for his professionalism, farsightedness and leadership, Lt Gen Azhar Abbas has decided to bid farewell, seeking early retirement, true to his personality,” a trusted family source said.
