ISLAMABAD: Former Federal Investigation Authority (FIA) director general Bashir Memon has levelled a spectrum of allegations on Prime Minister Imran Khan in an interview.
Bashir Memon had resigned as DG FIA in Dec 2019, days ahead of his retirement, in protest against pressure on him to file cases against the opposition leaders.
To a query, the disgruntled ex-DG FIA blamed that the prime minister was influencing the institute against the opposition leaders including Pakistan Muslim League-N leader Safdar Awan.
He said after the Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf government came into power in 2018 a picture of the first lady started doing rounds on social media and the PM wanted to register a terrorism case against PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz.
Bashir Memon said he denied taking any such action saying that how could he file a case of terrorism against surfacing of the picture. Indirectly hinting at the PM’s Office, he said when he went to the highest office of the country, he was told to book Maryam under terrorism charges for the picture was leaked through her social media cell.
