ISLAMABAD: A Foreign Office spokesman has denied media reports of pressure on Pakistan to recognize Israel.

Foreign Office spokesman Zahid Hafeez Chaudhry said that the news of US pressure on the Prime Minister to recognize Israel is fabricated. Prime Minister Imran Khan has clearly said that Pakistan cannot recognize Israel until a ‘just solution’ to the Palestinian issue.

The Prime Minister had emphasized that Pakistan’s policy in this regard was based on the vision of Quaid-e-Azam.

The Foreign Office spokesman said that the Prime Minister’s remarks were a vague confirmation of Pakistan’s position on the issue, adding that there was no room for baseless speculation after Imran Khan’s clear position, and recognizes pre-1967 borders and Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.

Zahid Hafeez Chaudhry added that Pakistan supports a two-state solution to the Palestinian issue in accordance with UN, OIC resolutions, and international law.
