Flood from Shishper Glacier damages part of Karakorum Highway in Hunza

In Hunza, flooding caused by the increased water flow from Shishper Glacier has affected the Karakorum Highway, damaged under construction two megawatt hydel power project and destroyed water supply system to Aliabad.

According to the Inter Services Public Relations, the Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) has been directed to start work for rehabilitation of Karakorum Highway in the affected area.

“The flow of water has increased from 1400 to 2500 Cusics. Traffic is plying via Murtazabad and Nagar alternate route to Hunza,” Radio Pakistan reported.
