Flight operation resumes at Swat airport after 17 years

SWAT: Swat airport has been reopened for commercial flights on Friday, after 17 years of its remaining dysfunctional.
The purpose behind resumption of the flight operation is to promote tourism in the district.
A Pakistan International Airline (PIA) flight successfully landed at the airport in Saidu Sharif from Islamabad international airport, with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mahmood Khan, Aviation Minister Ghulam Sarwar and federal minister Murad Saeed along with other passengers onboard it. They were warmly welcomed at the aerodrome.
It is pertinent here to mention that the flight operation was suspended at the airport following anti-terrorism operation under the War on Terror in 2004.
