 Five policemen killed in Rajanpur

RAJANPUR: Five police personnel were martyred and one other was seriously wounded when a group of criminals opened fire on their vehicle in Rajanpur district last night.

A spokesman of Rajanpur Police said the police personnel were on routine patrolling in the limits of Arabi Tiba Police Station.

He said all dead bodies and the injured policeman have been shifted to District Headquarters Hospital Rajanpur. The victims have been identified as Mohammad Saqlain (ASI), Irshad (head constable), Kashif, (constable), Asif (constable) and Khursheed (constable).

Later, law enforcers arrived and cordoned off the site of the incident to collect evidence. An investigation into the incident and hunt for the culprits have been launched.

Bodies of the deceased have been shifted to hospital for medico-legal formality.

On June 26, one policeman was martyred and three armed terrorists wearing suicide jackets were killed in a shootout at Police Lines area in Loralai district, Balochistan.

Security forces foiled the attempt of suicide attack inside Police Lines. One suicide bomber blew himself at entry gate.

Frontier Corps and Police Quick Response Force teams instantly responded to the attack. All three suicide bombers were killed in timely response by the security forces. District Police Officer (DPO) Loralai Jawwad Tariq said two of them had entered Police Lines area where an examination of policemen was being conducted.

Head Constable Allah Nawaz was martyred in the terrorist attack and four other policemen were injured. The wounded were shifted to a hospital for medical assistance.

Forces cordoned off the area around Police Lines. The situation was brought under control and bomb disposal squad had been called for clearing of the area.
