CHILAS: At least five personnel of the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), including a sub-inspector, were martyred and as many injured in exchange of fire with suspects during a raid in Chilas, local media reported on Tuesday.
Police said CTD Gilgit raided a house in Ronai area of Chilas, where the suspects were ambushing. As soon as the CTD force arrived, the suspects opened fire on them which left one Sub-Inspector Sohrab and four other officials dead and five other officials wounded.
Two of the suspect were also killed in this incident. Police said investigation about the dead suspects was underway. Superintendent Police Diamer Sher Khan said the CTD could carry out raid anywhere across the length and breadth of Gilgit and Baltistan to bring truths about the incident to light.
On the other hand, the acting G-B chief minister has sought report from the inspector general of police regarding the Chilas incident. Mir Afzal Khan said that attack on police party was a remorseful act.
It emerged that the suspects were involved in trade of weapons apart from terrorists.
