The amount of Sadqa –e- Fitr and Fidya has been fixed at Rs 140 per head this year, said former Central Ruet-e- Hilal Committee chairman Mufti Muneebur Rehman in a statement.
He said according to the market price of two kilograms of flour, the minimum amount for ‘fitrana’ is calculated as Rs140 per head.
The faithful who wanted to pay ‘fitrana’ equal to the price of barley, dates, and raisins should pay Rs320, Rs960 and Rs1,920 per head respectively.
Those who are unable to fast during the entire month should give Fidya of 30 Rozay which is Rs8,400 on the basis of wheat flour, Rs19200 in case of barley, Rs57,600 in case of dates and Rs115,200 in case of raisin.
Giving Sadqa e Fitr is mandatory for those who have excess amount of food/ money at the end of Ramadan. It is given to the needy before the prayers of Eid ul Fitr. While if one is unable to fast then he should give kuffara of the fast.
