GENEVA: The World Health Organization chief Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has said that first vaccine trial to combat novel Coronavirus had begun which was an incredible achievement.
He said this while addressing the conference of international diplomats about global preparedness to fight the Coronavirus pandemic in Geneva.
He urged the world to maintain same spirit of solidarity that had helped fight Ebola.
The WHO chief said that more than 70 percent countries had a COVID-19 national preparedness and response plan and further 89 had lab testing capacity for the novel coronavirus.
UN chief warns millions will die
United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Friday said that millions of people would die if governments did not step up efforts to control the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.
Talking to newsmen in a video conference in New York, he called upon world leaders to come together and offer an urgent and coordinated response to this global crisis.
