First person vaccinated against Covid-19 in UK
United Kingdom started mass immunization against the novel virus after giving first dose of Pfizer’s vaccine to its infected citizen on Tuesday. The vaccine got the approval from British authorities last week.
A 90-yaer-old woman named Margaret Keenan was vaccinated against the Covid-19 disease at University Hospital, Coventry, England, marking the start of historic vaccination campaign in the wake of the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic.
According to the health officials, initially, only critical patients would be given priority in the vaccination program. Around 800,000 doses have been prepared for the first phase.
Russia has also begun vaccinating thousands of its population in Moscow with Sputnik V vaccine whose efficacy has been reviewed differently by the health experts.
The Pfizer’s vaccine is expected to be made available globally.
