First FIR under Protection of Parents Ordinance filed

BAHAWALPUR: The first case under the Protection of Parents Ordinance 2021 was registered by a blind father against his son in Bahawalpur.
A case was registered on the complaint of a blind citizen. According to the FIR, the son used to give verbal abuses to the old man and he pushed him out of the house.
It may be recalled that on May 8, President Dr. Arif Alvi had issued the Protection of Parents Ordinance 2021. The purpose of the ordinance is to protect parents from forced eviction by their children.
Under the ordinance, evicting parents from house is a punishable offence. If convicted, the culprit could face up to one year in prison or a fine, or both.
President Dr. Alvi had issued the ordinance under Article 89 of the Constitution.
