LAHORE: Eight were killed and one critically injured following a fire eruption at a hair spray factory in Lahore’s Ferozewala early Tuesday.

Four labourers and a family of four were among the deceased and were residents of the apartment above the factory in Imamia Colony.

The rescue workers also said that after the fire erupted, cylinders exploded one after another and spread to the whole building.

The residents of the area gathered near the factory site. An eyewitness said he heard a loud noise after seeing the fire, and rushed out of their house.

The rescue teams managed to rescue several labourers, and were transported to Mayo Hospital.

Zahid, 65, his wife Rasheeda, their six-year-old granddaughter Areeba and nine-year-old grandson Moosa are among the four people who died.

The cause of the fire is still unknown.
