Firdous slams opposition parties stance on PTI’s foreign funding case

ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan on Thursday rejected the opposition parties’ stance on the foreign funding case of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said Prime Minister Imran Khan firmly believed in supremacy of the constitution, rule of law and across the board accountability.

In a series of tweets, she said the entire nation was witness to the fact as to who was declared ‘Sadiq & Ameen’ by the country’s apex court and who was declared dishonest.

The special assistant said, “We condemn their sordid plot of trying to make the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) a hostage and influence its decision.”

She said the PTI stood firm on its ideology and stance and like others it would not tread the course of evading accountability.

Senior Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) leader Ahsan Iqbal on Thursday blamed that the PTI, through different tactics, was trying to influence the ECP.

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, Ahsan Iqbal said the PTI had not submitted record of private accounts money to the ECP, while PML-N’s no account was unreported.

“The law bounds us for transparent transactions. The PTI appears to be involved in corruption in the name of funding,” he said.

He said the PTI’s donation had not been declared and the money had been used privately while the ECP had not been relayed about it. Earning of the hard working overseas Pakistanis had been amassed by the PTI leadership, he maintained.

The ECP has directed for hearing of the foreign funding case against the PTI on a day-to-day basis. Whereas, the Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday asked his party leaders not to worry about that. Imran Khan said that audit of his party funds had already been done and its evidence had been submitted to the court.
