 Finance Dept KPK approves grants for LHWs martyred during polio eradication campaign

SWABI: On the recommendations of the Local Administration and Health Department Swabi, the Finance Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Tuesday approved and sanctioned an amount of Rs 8.8 million as compensation on the families and legal heirs of the two LHWs who were martyred during the polio eradication vaccination campaign.

These grants consisted of Rs 6.6 million in the form of cash compensation and Rs 2.2 million in lieu of the plot as death compensation.

The martyred LHWs included Ms Shakeela Naz and Ms Ghuncha Sartaj both of whom were serving in BS-5. The Health Department Swabi had requested the Provincial Government for compensation which was approved by the Finance Department for the compensation’s grant on Tuesday.

The legal heirs of the each of the martyrs will receive cash and death compensation amount after fulfilling legal and codal formalities.

Both the LHWs were martyred while administering polio drops to the children in Swabi last year.
