FIA stops Shehbaz Sharif from flying abroad despite LHC order
LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif was reportedly stopped from flying abroad despite the Lahore High Court’s permission in this regard.
The leader of the opposition in the National Assembly was going to travel from Lahore airport to Qatar, from where he had to go to London for medical check-up. However, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA)’s immigration officials stopped him at the Lahore airport.
The immigration officials said that Shehbaz was still in the blacklist in their system. Upon which, Shehbaz said that he had orders of the LHC regarding permission to travel for one time.
The PML-N leader’s counsel Atta Tarar showed and read the order to the immigration authorities. However, the FIA officials were adamant that his status was not updated with them.
Shehbaz Sharif had demanded a written reason for not allowing him to go abroad, on which the authorities have informed him in writing about being offloaded. He returned home after the immigration authorities did not allow him to go abroad.
It may be recalled that the Lahore High Court had a day ago allowed the opposition leader to travel abroad for eight weeks.
