A senior FIA investigator Asif Iqbal was suspended over a tweet by the authorities. Not only was he suspended, but he was also pressured to file a case against Ali Zafar for the defamation of Meesha Shafi.
He tweeted about punishments for those who were found guilty of defaming others by spreading fake information on social media.

A notification from FIA Director (cybercrime wing) announced the suspension of Assistant Director FIA cybercrime wing Muhammad Asif Iqbal.
“Service of Muhammad Asif Iqbal, assistant director/senior investigator (BPS-17) cybercrime reporting center Lahore is hereby placed under suspension with immediate effect till further orders”.
The notification came without any prior warning or show cause notice, and no reason was given for the officer’s suspension.
The official FIA statement says,
“Service of Muhammad Asif Iqbal, assistant director/senior investigator (BPS-17) cybercrime reporting center Lahore is hereby placed under suspension with immediate effect till further orders.”
