Pakistan will celebrate its 72nd independence on 14th August, 2019. For this, Dialogue Pakistan has gathered some historic images of the country which hold Pakistan’s history everyone is unaware of.

Before that, let’s not forget the struggle of Pakistanis during partition



1947 – Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah in Karachi

1948 – Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah Death


First Pakistani coin was issued

1951 – Rana Liaquat meets Walt Disney

Pakistani first lady Rana Liaquat meets famous American film-maker and animator Walt Disney in Washington DC


1959 – Pakistan’s first international gold medal in athletics

Pakistani sprinter, Abdul Khalique (left), won the first ever international gold medal in athletics for Pakistan in the 1959 Commonwealth Games in the 100 meters dash


1961 – Queen Elizabeth II visits Karachi

Queen Elizabeth II visited Karachi on February 1, 1961.

1965 – Indo-Pak War

The Indo-Pakistani War of 1965 was a culmination of skirmishes that took place between April 1965 and September 1965 between Pakistan and India.


1971 – Bangladesh Separated From Pakistan

The Surrender of Pakistan took place on 16 December 1971 at the Ramna Race Course in Dhaka, marking the liberation of Bangladesh.

1979 – Zulfikar Ali Bhutto hanged

Bhutto was convicted in a murder case and sentenced to death by the Lahore High Court (LHC) in 1979

1992 – World Cup victory

The national team wins the 1992 Cricket World Cup against England
