According to details, two unidentified gunmen on a motorcycle launched random fire at the vehicle of the female lawyer in Lahore’s Johar Town on Tuesday (today).
The lawyer was critically injured in the incident and was taken to Jinnah Hospital, but she died due to pressure caused by bullet wounds. The deceased lawyer’s name is identified to be Aqeela Subhani.
The motive for the attack by the gunmen has yet to be determined, but the police have begun an inquiry into the murder.
Last year in a separate incident, two defendants facing murder charges were shot dead outside a session’s court in Lahore.
Riyasat and Bilal, both under-trial prisoners (UTPs), were brought to the court from the Kot Lakhpat jail to face charges in a case involving the murder of a woman within the jurisdiction of the Nishtar Colony police station.
The deceased woman’s son Kufail shot fire at both suspects in Bakshi Khana to settle the score, killing them both. Both of them died instantly on the spot.
A surge in these types of cases is being witnessed. There must be better security arrangements so that precious lives can be saved.
