Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Shibli Faraz has denied reports of privatization of Pakistan Television Network (PTV).
Talking to media, the federal minister said that no decision has been taken to privatize the state-run TV channel. “We are putting PTV on its feet. We have definitely started fixing PTV, but there is no plan or thought for privatization,” he said.
He further said that PTV was being restructured. Working on the management structure of state TV.
It is to be noted that according to earlier media reports, the Cabinet Committee on State and Enterprises has approved the privatization of PTV.
It was also reported that the Privatization Commission has sought details of financial and administrative matters for the privatization of Pakistan Television (PTV), which will be finalized by the Federal Cabinet.
Earlier, 18 companies were initially included in the privatization program of government agencies, but now some other companies, including PTV, are being added.
According to the report, the privatization of Pakistan Television will be done under the Planning Commission Ordinance 2000
