ISLAMABAD: The federal cabinet will take a final decision tomorrow to impose an additional burden of Rs 150 billion on electricity and gas consumers.
A meeting of the Federal Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Imran Khan has been convened and a 15-point agenda is considered.
Government sources told the Special Correspondent of a private news channel that the issue of rising electricity and gas prices will be taken up with the cabinet, but with the approval of the prime minister and the federal cabinet, a final decision will be taken to impose an additional burden of Rs 150 billion on electricity and gas consumers.
Sources said that it would be proposed to increase the price of electricity by Rs 1.62 per unit for domestic consumers, up to Rs 2.63 per unit for commercial and industrial consumers and for consumers with 200 units per month by 32 paise.
Sources said that the cabinet will also propose to increase the price of gas by 15 percent and will also consider an increase of Rs 20 per month in gas meter rent for domestic consumers.
