ISLAMABAD: The federal government on Tuesday approved license for usage of bhang (hemp) by medicinal and industrial sector.
Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry said that initially the approval was granted to the government entities later the private sector would also be granted the permission to use hemp. The first license has been issued to the ministries of science & technology and Pakistan Council of Scientific & Industrial Research by the federal cabinet.
Fawad Chaudhry claimed that the landmark decision will place Pakistan in billions of US dollars cannabidiol market (CBD).
“Cabinet has approved first License for Minister for Science and Technology and PCSIR for industrial and medical use of hemp, the landmark decision will place Pakistan in billions of USD CBD market,” he tweeted.
