Federal cabinet approves National Digital Cable Policy: Fawad
ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhary Fawad Hussain on Tuesday said the federal cabinet had approved the National Digital Cable Policy.
“The digitisation of cable will improve the quality and ensure that people have access to more television channels. The government will also give rights to the cable operators to purchase content,” said Chaudhary Fawad Hussain while briefing the media about the cabinet’s decisions.
He said there was also a proposal to reopen the cinemas from June 30. He said the final decision to this effect would be taken by the National Command and Operation Center.
The federal cabinet has decided to monitor the implementation of development projects under Public Sector Development Program (PSDP).
The minister for information a mechanism would be evolved in order to ensure timely availability of funds for the development projects.
“A third party evaluation of the development projects will be carried out in order to ensure transparency,” he said.
He said the annual PSDP for the next fiscal year was of 900 billion rupees, and most of the mega projects for Sindh would be financed from it.
Chaudhary Fawad Hussain said the cabinet also approved implementation of storm water drains projects under Karachi transformation program.
The cabinet approved the appointment of community welfare attaches in seven countries. On the complaints of overseas Pakistanis, two officers of Pakistani embassy in Saudi Arabia have been called back.
