Several students were detained at Wuhan University of Science and Technology in the Chinese province of Wuhan.

A large number of Pakistani students are currently studying at the university. They released a video statement that was received by ARY News that showed them appealing for help from the Chinese and Pakistani authorities.

The coronavirus has reportedly killed John from China, the students said in the video statement. More than 2,000 Pakistani students in twelve universities suffer from food shortages, the video message further said.

Meanwhile, the PM has urged Pakistani students to help Pakistan and the foreign ministry to leave the disaster-hit province immediately.

Coronavirus-infected students from universities in the Wuhan province belong to the provinces of Punjab, Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
