The father of Federal Minister for Communications and Postal Services Murad Saeed was detained on Monday by immigration authorities at Melbourne Airport due to insufficient documentation.

The man, identified as Saeedullah, was taken into custody and shifted to immigration detention after he could not successfully convince immigration officials over the validity of the documents he was carrying with him.

Pakistani authorities have not spoken on the matter as of yet.

Saeed is a member of the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and has been a minister since December 2018.

He is popularly known for taking strong positions in political stand-offs with the opposition leadership.
