Farah Khan involved in Asia’s biggest money laundering scandal, claims PML-N

The ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has claimed that Farah Khan, a friend of former first lady, was involved in Asia’s biggest money laundering scandal.
While addressing a press conference on Sunday, PML-N party leaders called on Imran Khan’s wife Bushra Bibi and Farah Khan as evidence of corruption in the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government. Play an audio clip in which a property tycoon Malik Riaz can also be heard.
Punjab government spokesman Ataullah Tarar and PML-N provincial information secretary Uzma Bukhari alleged that Farah Khan ruled the country from her office in Punjab and amassed billions of rupees in assets.
Ata Tarar alleged that she used to approve ‘transfers and appointments’ of government officials in Punjab in exchange for huge payments and billions of rupees were spent on buying diamonds.
He said that the proceeds from the sale in Dubai were transferred to Pakistan through ‘hawala and handi.’
He demanded from the PTI chairman to ask Farah Gogi to return home and join the investigation.
The audio clip during the press conference allegedly featured property tycoon Malik Riaz and his daughter, the duo talking about the demands made by Farah Khan in return for some ‘government favors’ in the audio.
In the audio clip, the daughter told her father that Farah Khan had called her and told that the first lady had asked him not to accept the three carat diamond ring.
The property tycoon then asks her daughter to give her what she is asking for, to which the daughter replies that I have offered Farah to buy a five carat ring which will cost Rs10 million. She says, that your meeting with Farah is scheduled for Saturday, so the ring should be arranged before that.
Malik Riaz asked his daughter to order the ring, to which she replied that he had done so and that it would be delivered the next day.
According to sources, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government had objected to Malik Riaz’s housing scheme in Peshawar as it was illegal and was started without the permission of the concerned authorities.
Atta Tarar claimed that the government had obtained more audio recordings of Farah Gogi as evidence of corruption, and that clips could be sent for forensic tests if needed.
PML-N leader Uzma Bukhari sarcastically said that two women, Bushra Bibi and Farah Gogi, had lifted Imran Khan out of poverty by running the financial affairs of Bani Gala.
She alleged that Imran Khan had hired two women for his corrupt activities.
She said that so far his party has received information about the sale of diamonds in Dubai but details of other wrongdoings will also come to light soon.
